The corridors of Laurel House, once filled with warmth and memories, now seemed like a labyrinth of shadows and dread. As Virginia and I hurriedly gathered essentials, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that we were being watched, that every step was being monitored by unseen eyes.

Alan, clutching his teddy bear, looked up at me with wide, fearful eyes. "Daddy, the Whispers are getting louder," he murmured, his voice shaking.

I knelt down, cupping my son’s face in my hands. "We're going to get out of here, okay? Stay close to me."
